My three year old niece has a friend, her age, that is not allowed to eat ice cream, candy or pretty much anything with sugar in it.
You guys may wonder, why in the world would a child not have any candy?
Well, it seems that the little girl's mother thinks she is fat.
According to her [and I quote]: "Is never to early to start making sacrifices. She has to learn the value of being beautiful from childhood."

Is this what the world has become?

IF: Under the Sea

Sharks have been around since prehistoric times.
They survived whatever killed the dinosaurs,
They survived the ice age,
They are perfectly adapted to their environment,
They have become kings under the sea...
How sad that the only thing standing between them and their future is us, humans.

I'm sorry that I havent been around for a couple of weeks,
I had tons and tons of work to do...
On the bright side, Vida de Perros has a brand new design. Yay! =D

Now about the image: I was trying to imitate oil pastels, it's something new I want to learn,
I know there must be like a million plugins to do it for me, but there's no school like old school and I like to do things myself.
This drawing was inspired on a photograph by Michael Pitts (if I find it, I'll post it)

OH NO!!! It's the Time Monster!!
What? You don't believe in monsters?
Just read bellow.

Have you ever been late to the office because your alarm clock decided not to work?
Who's work do you think that it?
Yeah-huh, it's the Time Monster! He loves making people late.
The Time Monster can steal a few minutes or even whole hours from your clock, just look at the bag! It's full of time!
Messing with clocks and watches is one of it's favorite hobbies.

What about when you're having such a great time, and sudenly wham! ...it's time to go.
Time Monster again, he makes fun times go really fast, 'cause he hates it when you're having fun. He can also make the bad times last like an eternity and make you walk really really slow, when you need to get somewhere really fast.

Trust me, Time Monster is very real.
He's what Einstein* was talking about!

*Although sometimes he used to call it "Relativity" ; )

RD: Tattoo (Bad Memory)

I remember the first time I ever thought about getting a tattoo... I don't remember how old I was, but I was still wearing piggy tails. I asked my parents, and of course they said no. But I was a hopeful little thing and I knew (perhaps "hoped") that if they saw what I had in mind they would totally approve. So, I got a marker pen and I draw myself the tattoo, then I went show it to them.
My father has never been a very creative man, so I guess the didn't quite grasped the purpose of my actions.

The good thing was that I didn't get to go to school the next day.
The bad thing was that I loved school.

One of all the things he said to me that day was: "...Don't you forget" he repeated it plenty.
Well, granted: I haven't forgotten... I hope you haven't neither.

I started to do something for IF... But I won't submit this... thing.
Eventually I'll try to find my cheerful side and make another illo.

Of all the amazing songs nature has to offer I find the howl to be one of the most beautiful.

And like in human songs, I have heard all kinds of howls:
The ones that tell of a lost love,
and breaks your heart just by hearing it.
The ones that tell about loneliness and dispair,
and makes you want to hug someone and tell them it's gonna be alright.
The ones that tell about having fun with friends,
that makes you want to join in the fun.
And the ones that tell "you'll be part of my pack forever",
those are my very favorites.

Try howling with a friend (human or canine), you'll thank me later.

Mom: The worse thing it can happen is that he eats a neighbor... and we hate them anyways. Go to bed, darling.

When I was a kid I went to the sea with my grandfather, he was just staring at it in complete silence... I was bored as hell.
I started asking all sorts of questions, just to get him out of his trance (and myself out of the boredom) and I remember asking him why do palm trees grow towards the sea, and he replied "Because they're in love with her" I did not understand that comment... so I asked again "With her?" and he just smiled and said "Yes".
It was very confusing, for a moment I thought he was insane, that was the most obvious reason for his behaviour. After a few minutes of silence I asked again... "Who's "her"? Don't you mean "it"? He smiled and answered "No, I mean her, the Turquoise Lady."
I look the same way he was looking, but I saw nodoby, nothing special about the water... maybe he was alucinating.
"Pappa, are you ok?" I had to ask
"I'm great" and he looked great, he had a silly smile on his face and I still didn't get it.
He was a man of the field, a man of the land, born and raised in the middle of the country, I, on the other hand, was born in the city, by the shore, the sea was just... water to me. Maybe I was missing something.
"Why is... hmm "her" so special?"
"She's our mother. Mother to all living creatures.
"What? She's not my mother"
"Who's your mother then?"
"The woman who gave birth to me"
"Ah, you see? The sea gave birth to all of us. She's the mother of life itself. If it wasn't for her we would be just another rock in space."
Ok. That made sense. But I was resisting.
"Ok, so she helped us, but that doesn't mean she's my mother. We can't live without the sun neather, does that makes "him" my father?"
"Why not?"
"It's crazy!"
"Maybe a little crazy is not that bad"
This required some thought, until that moment, my grandfather was the most wise man in the whole wide world, why was him talking all that nonsense? I didn't said anything else. I just stood there by his side as he gazed upon the sea.

It was years and years after that day when I understood what he meant that day. I realized that every single time I felt like I couldn't take the pressure, the pain, the sadness or the sorrow, I would go to that same spot and gaze at the sea, just like he did that day... And like a mother she would gently soothe me and let me know that everything will be just fine.

I love her, fear her, respect her and I have no doubt that the sea, the Turquoise Lady, is indeed our mother. I hope my grandfather, wherever he is, knows that I finally understood that.

Anyways, I had to work on my backgrounds and I felt like annoying her a bit.
